This widow is not defined by her grief, her anger, her loss, but The Mistress of the House is defined by her faith that freely received God’s gifts and freely gives the Lord glory in return. The result of God’s miracles is faith in the Word of the Lord. The miracles serve throughout Scripture to create faith, to establish and confirm God’s saving grace confessing “the Word of the Lord in your mouth is true.” So the conclusion God’s people draw in Nain, as Christ raises a widow’s son, “God has visited His people!”
